Pluto, Ceres, Eris etc. are classified as minor planets with those out past Neptune further categorized as Plutoids.

Yup...he did a good job - even learned how to use the drill press for the post holes. He did the painting under Margies supervision since she's the better artist.

Constructing the base was eased by our finding a 1x6 synthetic "wood" material made of a mix of cellulosic scraps and synthetics - glossy outside, color & solid all the way through and sandable so cuts hardly show. $1/foot & dimensioned just like the real wood equivalent.

The spheres are a mix of Styrofoam, some papier-mache' and other goodies we found at the toy, hardware or costume jewelry departments. Acrylic paint and clear acetate for ring systems.
