This reminds me of the movie Spoorloos (The Vanishing). (A horror movie about woman disappearing on French highway resting place).

Saw that, and the 1993 US remake with Jeff Bridges & Keifer Sutherland. Both directed by George Sluizer and good, but the first was better IMO because of the remakes rather contrived 'happy' ending.

        Heh. I was just burglared.

At half past eight in the evening.

Someone broke through the street lvl streetside window.

        Stole a few nonpersonal items.

But I find it pretty amazing, that people dare to break into a house in a city. Theres litterally 6 meters to the house opposite this.

They do it because of a simple reality: the average response time to a 911 call is almost always 10-20 minutes or more. More than enough time for a baddie to off or severely injure someone, which happens often with home invasions - an increasingly popular method of robbery these days.

This is why my .40 SIG is in a biometric case in the nightstand drawer and a 12 gauge magnum combat shotgun full of 00 buckshot is in the closet.

To Mordrid - Luckily we werent at home - more problematic, i was playing Age of Empires III with a roughdy band of fellows, and we wherent exactly sober - so we had to hunt around for someone capable of driving us the 200 kilometers to my home (police woulndt respond until someone with a key was at the crimescene).

To Fat Tone: THanks a bunch. Well, I chalk it all up to experience.

Sorry to hear all of that...

My sister in law was robbed once (in the pharmacy: 6 people entered, when they left the cahs register was empty) and had her purse stolen. My mother also had her purse stolen in the UK (which posed some problems to return to Belgium: no more ticket, no more id-card, ... ).

Burglaries have been on the increase here since the credit crunch, people are doing more and more petty thefts...

We had people come into our house, which was full of sleeping people, and they went upstairs etc.....
I woke up to go to the lavatory, and heard moving upstairs. I thought it was my dad.
When i got into the garage, the front door had a hole burnt in the plastic window, above the door handle.
We have since installed bars on all accessible areas...its a bummer to have to lock yourself in at night....
edit : this was a few years ago.....

Ignoring the guns if anyone broke into here they'd have to contend with Spike (>100 lbs & extremely protective) and FWIW Zero, our sons 15 lb Jack Russel terrier who thinks she's a Doberman
