  • So...Anyone watched Watchmen?

    Without spoilers, how was it?

I will go to the theaters myself but want to hear it from anyone who saw the movie.

    Cheers,
    Elie

Excellent. 9.5/10. With the exception of maybe the last 20 minutes or so, all 163 minutes of it flew by.

9.5/10 here too. Going back again this week to see it with our middle son who has so far had family/interview commitments (online radio talk show).

Hard to spoil a Graphic Novel LOL

Anyways, I'm seeing it tonight in IMAX
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

It was FAR better than I could have thought it would have been. Very little was changed and what was left out made sense cinematically. It felt very approachable to a nonfan to me but I went with another fan so I can't say for certain on that.

The casting was amazing spot on across the board visually. The one exception to this was extremely understandable considering the physical traits required. The person they chose instead has more than enough to make up for it (for those in the know think cigars).

The soundtrack was at times... overtly there.. but very much of the error this film was meant to be placed.

Then now is a great time to git 'er done, son

Seriously, it'll help your understanding of the motivations etc., something that often gets short changed in book to cinema adaptations...but less so here than in most others thanks to Snyder's obsession to detail.

One thing's for sure though: Silk Specter (Malin Akerman) sure looks great nekkid

Those of us who've seen it obviously know the different "device" but cannot tell for obvious reasons. I will say, however, that it makes perfect sense and is in context. Snyder did a great job.

I went to see it last night, I never read the novel, but got the basic plot line from Wikipedia last year after seeing the coming attractions...

Overall it was pretty good, though for someone who has no idea what the movie is about, much of it is going to be lost, and I think I missed alot even though I had somewhat of an idea what to expect. One of my friends read the novel before hand and said it was a very faithful adaption and helped fill in on some of the stuff that I didn't quite pick up on. I really need to see the movie again and even read the novel to get the full effect.

How many pages is the novel?

Amazon shows that it is 416 pages (probably includes commentary). It was a 12 issue limited comic series originally.

Within the Watchmen graphic novel are several other narratives which add a lot of material not in the film.
