  • Road Trip Songs!

I'm making a mixed tape - thats right a tape - for my '93 Taurus.

I have ONE blank tape left and I wanna fill it up.

    Here is my preliminary list:

    Golden Earring "Radar Love"
    Steppenwolf "Born to Be Wild"
    ZZ Top "La Grange"
George Thorogood & The Destroyers "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer"
    Led Zeppelin "Immigrant Song"
    Ram Jam "Black Betty"
    AC/DC "Highway to Hell"
Tom Cochrane "Life is a Highway"
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers "Runnin' Down a Dream"
Tragically Hip "New Orleans is Sinking"
    Headstones "Cemetery"
    The Doors "Roadhouse Blues"
Jimi Hendrix "All Along the Watchtower"
    Cake "The Distance"

They don't necessarily have to be about driving, but you can kinda see the style I'm going for.

I need at least a half dozen more - help me out!!!

Roxette - Joyride and/or Soul Deep

Friend of mine got to the point he couldn't put on either of those songs on
while he was driving as they encouraged fast driving (he got one or two tickets
        while listening to it).

Plus, seeing as the album came out in 91, it would be somewhat fitting to be
        playing in your 93 Taurus.

          "On the road again"

And basically all songs from this CD:

I just heard "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen on the radio while driving to work. I made a mental note to add it to my road trip playlist.
Just a month left of grad school!

Though I refuse to buy a car, the work is having me drive around a lot. We have a Minsk team in Belarus who left the Russian Minsk Team Road Music MP3 CD in the car, which is what I'm listening to on my sometimes 470km drives, it also helps me being in touch with Russian in which I became semi-fluent in last couple of years.

My favourite from the CD is "Золотая Антилопа" (meaning golden antilope, some 50's soviet cartoon). You can download it from zaycev.

              A good one also:
              Cardigans: Loosing My Favourite game
              James Intveld (Cry Baby soundtrack)
Doing Time for being young (got a speeding ticket listening to that one)

Also get on with the 2000's and get tape-iPod adapter at minimum.

                  Oh, almost forgot...

                  Sammy Johns: Chevy Van

Ok, it sucks, but it is a good Road Trip Songâ„¢

I knew my Dad had most of this - turns out he does - but on vinyl...

If anyone wants to help me out by encoding some of these it would be much appreciated
(in some sort of lossless form).

                      Need:
                      Golden Earring "Radar Love"
                      Steppenwolf "Born to Be Wild"
                      ZZ Top "La Grange"
                      Ram Jam "Black Betty"

Utwig: I wanna stick with the tape - I might even eliminate all songs made post-1993
And like I said, I still have the one blank tape

Mehen, I presume you realise most of those are VERY likely to lead to a speeding ticket?

Oddly enough, I found that music by David Bowie made me drive faster (Modern love, ...), whereas music by De La Soul (Me myself and I, ...) made me drive much more relaxed...
(now I have less issues with Bowie-music as well)

Dunno why though (rhythm? lyrics? ...)...
