    Here property tax rates are set in elections.
    Values go up => taxes go up
    Values go down => taxes go down

    Pretty stable market here though. So taxes just creep up over time along with inflation.
    The reason schools are usually financed mostly by property taxes is that property taxes are more stable than sales type taxes.

    They pick up our recycling once a week.
    Oddly, to me, they won't take cardboard
    Which is a shame, because we just bought a new (to us) house and are up to our eyebrows in cardboard boxes from moving.

      Here they take about everything and no sorting necessary. About all they won't take is blister packs and other such materials.

        We wish down here. Even with property values going down the local councils seem to think we are all cash cows to be milked for all they can. Council spending keeps going up and so do the property taxes. "Hey it's not our money that we're spending" seems to be their war cry..
