This has been in the works for a while. If anything, District 9 is a take off of the original V, and V is being remade because of the BSG success.

This was one of my family's favorite series when we were kids. I'm excited to see if the remake is good.

What the hell are they paying these people in Hollywood to pull out remakes ?
I mean, I know that a lot of films are remakes of others, but they usually make it quite different, so as you wouldn't really notice the resemblance too much.....

I'm getting old, young whippersnappers playing with my memories lol.

        Leave the 80's alone !
They'll be doing the breakfast club next and St Elmo's Fire.....Uncle buck....

(Star Trek did come out good tho......)

I quite liked District 9, seemed refreshing.

And derivative of the original V in many ways. Especially the case with ID4.

            V to me was a bi-partisan affair.
There were human collaborators, good lizards and bad lizards.

It was a lengthy attempt to overthrow, but was thwarted by 'la resistance'. A bit like the second world war in some places...

To me ID4 was an 'aliens attack, shoot them down' film. It was an action movie after all...

District 9 has the slum aspect, as they were refugees rather than attackers, or in any way capable of overthrowing humanity.

To me, the differences outweigh the similarities.
