  • Flu vaccine : Who's had it ?

I had the regular flu vaccine here at work, it said on he box that it contained H1N1 also.
The Doctor pointed it out after I remarked there were only a dozen or so people signed up for it, whereas we are over 100 at where I work....

I've had the vaccine for the past 5 years or so now, always thru work, so free.
It only costs 8Euros tho, so not too bad....

Had both, no problem. Same for the family.

Normally I'd not care about getting a flu as over here we get paid while sick.

Now that I am self-employed, I should rethinks methinks.

The H1N1 vaccine is not available here yet, but have decided to take it when it is. Probably won't take the seasonal flu vaccine though.

The young ones and I getting them were no brainers: they're in the youth group and I'm both asthmatic and mildly diabetic, so.....

What's the US H1N1 vaccine called?

Everyone I know is calling it the H1N1/09 vaccine, largely made by Baxter Intl. and GlaxoSmithKlein - though the latter is calling theirs Pandemrix.

Becky & I haven't gotten the seasonal, and H1N1 is not available here yet.
We can get them free at my work, but we are not really in any risk group, so why use up supply?
We may get ChooChoo (she is healthy and 9yo) the seasonal, and for sure H1N1 when it becomes available.

PS 9yo!? How did that happen?

Our daughter is 28 - 29 in December - and our eldest son will be 31 next April.

Guess you'd never do well giving yourself stitches 'eh? Been there, done that when injured in the deep woods...always carried a small medical kit in my backpack.

Climbing rock, spefically the Porcupine Mountains in northern Michigan. Slipped a bit and opened up a 12 stitcher in my left knee. Took just a few to stitch it up and get back to the task at hand; getting to the top.

One of many cuts, scrapes and 'war wounds' over the years including a target arrow to the chest (fortunately superficial), broken arm playing football (kept playing too), winged in the arm with a rifle round, nail through and through a foot, spiked in the hand by the shoe spike of another baseball player (but I got him out! ), etc. etc. etc.

That's what you get for having a T-type personality; those who play hard, race cars, skydive, BASE jump, climb rock, explore where you probably shouldn't etc. My wife is very concerned now that Erik's nearing maturity and has started digging through dad's scrap books

Porcupine Mountains, Michigan (northwestern upper penninsula near Wisconsin and very near to Lake Superior) (didn't take this one, but it's the same area)

Taken just as BASE'ing off the roof of the Tower of the Americas in San Antonio Texas (622 ft/190m)

In our family I was the one who had things happen...

When I was about 8, 5 or 6 of us kids managed to lift the front of a trailer full of sand, I was the one holding it when the others let go, and it fell on my foot. They were shocked, but thankfully some of them helped get it off my foot.

Then, a year or so later, I was wading through a little brook by where I lived, and trod on a 6-inch nail, that went thru my welly, and my foot. Had 9 injections in the base of the foot to numb it down so they could clean with Iodine, and the Tetanus jab as well...

I've also slipped whilst climbing over a barbed wire fence, and the first wire took my trousers, and the second took my leg, a good 6-8 inch cut, not too deep.

Been to hospital quite a bit in my youth Not so much anymore thank god....
