Volcanoes and global climate change

I have often seen and heard remarks that volcanoes produce far more CO2 than us puny humans. I came across one yesterday that said that one volcano produced more in two weeks than humans produced in 20 years (or 60 years, according to another reference). This seemed so far-fetched I spent today Googling acquiring facts and fantasies. I then wrote an essay on my findings with links to my sources.
