    The 'book' says a few days, but I've seen enough to know better than put artificial limits on human survivability. Part of it's water, part of it's having a good fat layer, part of it's being able to slow your metabolism by hypothermia or otherwise and much of the rest is that great undefinable - will power. Most people give up and die at some point, but a few just flat refuse to.

      Yes... but still...

      It does raise moral questions regarding all those search teams that decide to stop looking for survivors...

        Yes it does. I always thought the 5 or 8 days most rescue efforts impose was too short.
