Looks like next year they're going to violate the "no tights, no flights" rule originally set out for the series. What with the darker tone this season there are also persistent rumors that Tom Welling will take over the role in the upcoming Man of Steel and Justice League movies, though Superman Returns Brandon Routh will cameo as Clark Kent in the Green Lantern flick.
Also: Christopher Nolan, director/writer of the Batman Begins/Dark Knight films, has been assigned to be the "Godfather" of the new Superman film The Man of Steel with his brother Jonathan Nolan (Dark Knight's co-writer) directing. Screenplay: David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Dark City, Blade etc.) Strong reports are that that Brainiac is the villain and they want Superman to take him on as an "angry god" - no more Mr. Nice Guy.
