  • Anyone want a job with SpaceX?

    Things are hopping.

124 openings, mostly in LA but some in McGregor, Texas and Cape Canaveral, Fla.

More likely coming as they're going to more than double the size of their test facility at McGregor, Texas from 300 to 650 acres. Need more big test stands and people to maintain/run them, especially ones for their Raptor hydrogen 2nd stage and, possibly, the Merlin 2 - a 1,500,000 lb/f thrust engine akin to the Saturn V's F1, but reusable. Did anyone say "heavy lift"?

There is also unconfirmed talk of them building another vehicle/engine factory in or near Florida to compliment their Hawthorne, California plant - or perhaps to build larger vehicles than could be easily shipped cross-country. The Falcon 9 was designed to be easily trucked on a flatbed, but anything that would use the Merlin 2, or several of them, would have to travel by barge.

This all because their launch manifest is almost exploding with well over $2 billion contracted just for existing NASA and Iridium commitments alone. Estimates are they could add at least another 1,000 jobs during this expansion.

Well, United just announced about 1000 layoffs between the Cape and Houston - so maybe it will work out for some folks.
