Papers today are reporting that Chris Meloni will be plaing a General.
Given he's 50 years old this brings this up the real possibility he'll be playing Gen. Samuel "Sam" Lane - Lois Lane's father. Gen. Sam Lane and Superman have a strained relationship because of Lane's deep suspicions of metahumans and especially aliens.
This would jibe nicely with the numerous rumors of the script being based on the Suprrman: Birthright story arc.

Henry Clavill as Clark Kent, sans glasses. In an interview Clavill says he's been eating 5,000 calories/day, mostly protein, and working out like a demon to bulk up. They definitely made sure to include 'the curl'.
In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question - Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha and Jonathan Kent, Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as "Superman," not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Set photo of Henry Cavill in the new Super-Suit which is absent the traditional briefs. This was taken at a distance so it's blurry, but still. This all seems in line with the current comics costume (below) save for the absence of a red belt, but a belt could evolve later in the film. Also zoomed in on the pic from a couple posts ago to enhance the movie suits texture. Suit almost looks like a Kryptonian armor. If you look closely at the bottom it looks like a gold belt buckle....
The synopsis from the previous post makes it certain that at least the early part of the film follows the Superman: Birthright continuity.
Not a muscle suit - it's Cavill. Definitely muted tones and piping on the bodysuit, perhaps to reflect less of a boy scout and look more alien but also similar to the armor-y look in the new comics.
