Superman wears the black suit (below) and is only visible in flight as a red-blue blur. How he does that with a black uniform, I dunno
Brainiac blocks the sun, taking his powers, then sends Doomsday to kill Sups. He also teams with Luthor, who he gives a Chewbacca-ish space-dog. Brainiac has a robot assistant named L-Ron (Hubbard?), who is described as a gay R2D2.
Eradicator, a Kryptonian cybernetic organism, resurrects Superman, but he is now powerless until the sunlight can be turned back on. To protect Sups and restore some capability Eradicator forms an armor suit from his own body, which is what's shown above.
One improbable thing leads to another, and at the end Sups battles a giant spider - an item Peters recycled in Wild Wild West
