Do Ineception and Black Swan seem like deja vu

The ideas for them come from anime Paprika (device used to enter people's dreams) and Perfect Blue (singer/actress with split dark/light personality, maternal figure). Aronofsky (director of Black Swan) owns movie rights for the latter. If you haven't seen them I highly recommend since they are both better than derivatives.

Director Satoshi Kon passed away in August 2010.

Satoshi Kon's Perfect Blue is one of my favorite anime flicks. Very dark. I'd like to see a live action version and Darren Aronofsky is the right guy to make it. I became a fan with Pi and really enjoyed The Fountain and The Wrestler.

I didn't see other stuff by Aronofsky (will watch) but Black Swan is IMO overrated, the story somehow didn't convince me. Where the story fell appart for me was that someone so immature (13y old level) could become as good at something and the supporting characters seemed a bit one-sided. Partially my disappointment might stem from all the praises I've seen and I was expecting something truly great which IMO it was not. I'd give it a 7/10 but that is only because I really like Natalie Portman. Still good but no-way superb.

13? Most girls who make a career of it start at 5-6 and Tiler Peck, a principal ballerinaina for the NYC Ballet, was dancing the lead in Sleeping Beauty at age 15. Is a 13 year old prodigy possible? Yup. The Bolshoi has 9-10 year olds who are quite advanced in its academy.
