Local reports are that so many Volts are being sold & ordered that 2011 production has been ramped from the initial 10,000 units to 25,000+.
2012 Volt production was to be 60,000, but now it looks like that's getting ramped to 120,000 units if the suppliers can keep up.
And this with it only being sold in a few markets, a list that will expand drastically post-2012.
The GM PoleTown plant can produce >200,000, but a second Michigan facility is also coming on line to handle European Ampera and Asian (un-named) models until factories there can open. Once they do that facility can switch to producing domestic Voltec models. Already slated are a Cadillac and a minivan.
