Black Panther

Producer: Kevin Feige (Iron Man 1/2, Thor, Capt. America, etc; coming - Doctor Strange, Ant-Man)
Screenplay: Mark Bailey (Ghosts of Abu Ghraib, etc.)
Synopsis: T'Challa/Black Panther is the first major black superhero, a physicist/inventor and the royal head of state of a (fictional) African nation. The name "Black Panther" is actually the title of his royal office. As such he is a physical, mental and political force to be contended with and a major badass when he gets wound up.
T'Challa is also the husband of the X-Men's Storm (Ororo Iqadi T'Challa, née Munroe,) and he has served as a substitute member of the Fantastic Four and with the Avengers.
Casting won't happen until there's a director & finished script, but the stampede has already started as every major black actor of the proper age gets in line. Whoever it is had better be able to pull off the accent - T'Challa is supposed to have been UK educated and graduated from Oxford.

Jessterw: both excellent actors, but a little long in the tooth (40-50) by the time this gets to shooting. I think they need to get someone around 30, especially if Avengers turns into a series and Black Panther plays any role in it or the Fantastic Four rebooted series.
BTW: did you guys hear that Marvel is killing off Johnny Storm/Torch?

DC killed off Superman in "Doomsday" and brought him back. Storm died in 1980 and Marvel brought her back too

On the Iron Man 2 BR there is an extra where Nick Fury shows Tony Stark a map pinpointing meta-humans.
One was in Africa, and according to Jon Favreau this was a specific reference to T'Challa.
Also note the one in the mid-Atlantic: it's Namor, the Sub-Mariner (2014) (pre-production)
