IMF head/French politician arrested in NYC

In the press here was an article stating that there were phone records of the maid making a call to a friend saying, "I know what I'm doing, the guy has lots of money". Apparently it took this long to translate (I can't find this in an English newspaper), but this could still be speculation.
I'm also not too big a fan of conspiracy theories (well, they can make fun reading), but it is not impossible. More likely then is that it is more a single action for money. That still does not rule out DSK is guily either, that is for the investigation to decide.
For sure something fishy went on there....

DSK was probably quite 'active' and 'known' in that hotel (by the personnel, he has stayed there many times).
I wouldn't put it past either a gov't that wanted him removed from the IMF, or a gov't that wanted him removed from politics altogether.
I would lean towards a gov't that wanted the IMF head replaced.
Maybe he was for replacing the US$ as the base for world currency markets ?

Lets not forget that Sarkozy, even if he knew beforehand about the 'supposed project/operation', wouldn't have been against. He is pro-USA, and a big hit like this to the PS (lefties) would almost give him a re-election due to the havok, or at the very least a great boost. It is a win-win situation for him in any case.

Not saying any of this is the truth, just thinking out loud.

There are loads of presidential candidates over here atm, but not one that looks to take any margin, except the current one. Even with his past mistakes, i'll bet he gets back in for another term.

Remember that under our laws even a hooker can be raped and successfully complain - NYC's Special Victims squad is very experienced with less than ideal victims and witnesses.

He's not looking forward to coming home either :
'Tristane Banon" has decided to pursue in France for attempted rape.
She's a writer (with a book on politicians), who is claiming for an act which apparently occurred in Feb 2003.
It could be just to make sure he doesn't present himself for the Presidential elections.

I'd be surprised if this wasn't a case of sidelining a 'nuisance' (either due to his political aspirations in France or his job at the IMF) by exploiting a known weakness (lack of sexual inhibitions).

He was going to be the next president of France without even trying.
He didn't have to promote himself, he would have walked straight into the job.
This completely ruined his chances of political/economical work for virtually the rest of his life.

Most people here do believe that this wasn't a chance occurrence.
