Good at least you're not deafening yourself
Our old Jetta had a 4-speed box, and at 90Km/h it was already noisy, at 130Km/h there was no point of having a car stereo, and iirc it topped out at 140-150Km/h.
Maybe someone changed the gearbox on your car, or changed the ratios for better acceleration, rather than top speed ?PC-1

I don't think so, since the first owner only serviced it at authorized VW service and 2nd owner was mainly spending money on audio instead of repairs (just paid 370 euros today for all new brake discs + pads). Also I sometimes drive Ford Focus with 1.6 74kW (100hp) engine that has worse power to weight ratio and I can get it above 180km/h without problems. Even brother's Ka with 1.3 Zetec does 170.
I think some of the original 100 horsies escaped which a good engine service should cure.
Otherwise the car is top, the model just below GTI with highline: Air conditioning, remote central locks, electric windows, ABS, 5 gears. It was also upgraded with xenons from GTI, sporty aftermarket suspension, alu wheels and sporty exhaust. Also one of my good friends had a car just like this and he still has spare xenon bulbs and audio gear so I'm covered here.Last edited by UtwigMU; 23 June 2011, 14:42.

Got a 2.0L 115hp '95 Jetta up to 190km/h. Didn't feel half bad at that speed either. Probably had the wind at my back.Q9450 + TRUE, G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2, GTX 560, ASUS X48, 1TB WD Black, Windows 7 64-bit, LG M2762D-PM 27" + 17" LG 1752TX, Corsair HX620, Antec P182, Logitech G5 (Blue)

You should be able to change Discs and Pads yourself, its one of the easiest things to do. HandBrake cables on the other hand need a bit more work, but is also doable.Originally posted by UtwigMU View PostThere are 4 discs + 4 pads + handbrake cables + work. It's about the price I found online for midrange replacement parts.
