  • Translating website for Right-to-Left languages

    Hi

I have plenty of experience translating my website into other languages, and can now handle most you can throw at me, including Japanese. Now I need to do it for a raft of new languages, including Arabic, which is right-to-left.

Can anyone say what is involved here? All my page text content comes from a database, but the layout is hard coded. Some sections are tables of option buttons. Plus its not just the webpages, it also generates some pdfs that are a mix of static and dynamic content.

To do the translation I generally have a translator type the content directly into a webpage designed for the purpose, plus they provide me the static content for the pdfs which we lay out in Illustrator

    Any insight welcome!

    Thanks,

    T.

      Hi Jam,

Not really as it is a paid-for online tool. I could set up a free access for you if it would help - do you have experience of this stuff?

      Thanks

There are some online translation APIs that can handle most of the work for you. Many are pay for, but they work okay.

http://code.google.com/apis/language.../overview.html (becoming a pay for tool)

What code base do you use for your site?
