Take this as the word of experience: if you have a vaulted ceiling you need fans uo there to keep the air circulating. The HVAC contractor should also have taken total volume into account when he calculated the heat inventory - some just use square footage, which is OK for standard ceilings but for a vaulted ceiling gives the wrong number.

Where I live, 300 m up and cooler than the plain, the temp maxed at 39.4°C (103°F) with a heat index of 47.8° (118°F). Humidity higher than normal. This midday, I went to the hospital in Nicosia in an urban heat island at low altitude. It was running minimal aircon and how blessed that was! It would not surprise me if the outside temp was 4-5° higher than where we are.
The electricity guys are promising 2 blackouts today of 2½ and ¾ hours resp. with appeals to minimise, The problem is that modern houses are not designed to run without aircon. We run our living room one for ¼ h early evening and a ceiling fan to keep comfortable while watching TV.Brian (the devil incarnate)

@Brian, glad to hear you are getting at least some relief.
I ride a scooter to work and came home yesterday in 109F (43C) heat according to the weather channel.
Now they are warning of "Extreme Heat" for next week.
What the heck do they call what we've been having?Chuck

As long as your scooter is moving you can at least get some air blowing over sweat to cool you down.
Imagine all the poor buggers in cars with no AirCon.
One tip (Which i've probably mentioned before) : Freeze a bottle of water, but remember to leave 10-20% empty before you freeze it or the bottle will crack.
That way, even if it takes 2 hours to get to work, with 1 litre+ of ice, it will always be super cool water as it melts.PC-1 Fractal Design Arc Mini R2, 3800X, Asus B450M-PRO mATX, 2x8GB B-die@3800C16, AMD Vega64, Seasonic 850W Gold, Black Ice Nemesis/Laing DDC/EKWB 240 Loop (VRM>CPU>GPU), Noctua Fans.

Well it's only a 10-15 minute trip (4 miles) or I'd just drive the car in this heat.
Also, the AC in the office building I work in is totally out of control. It's frequently in the low 60s F (~18C) in my office if it gets really hot outside. So it takes me a while to warm up on my way home even riding through the hot air.
I could freeze a water bottle in the break room refrigerator though. Hmm...Chuck

I was in Seattle, WA last week for a conference. The high was 75 F (24 C) while I was there.
Alas, I am back in Charlotte now where the temps are around 100 F.“Inside every sane person there’s a madman struggling to get outâ€
