Just finished dinner as it's now 20:30. For the first time I forsook the traditional turkey for a stuffed duck and was a little apprehensive, but it turned out perfect. With orange and mandarine sauce, three spiced lentils and caramelised chestnuts. Followed by reblochon on home-baked ciabetti bread and, of course, Christmas pudding and brandy cream sauce. Everything was spot on and small portions mean I don't feel stuffed with an unusual meal. Washed down with an Oz Cabernet Sauvignon for the duck and a Chile Cabernet Sauvignon for the cheese. Interesting comparison. the Oz had a fruitier bouquet but the Chile was a rounder, full-bodied wine, with a tad more tannin, and only 13% alcohol against 13.5% for the Oz.
