WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – A Brookville woman lost her life in a bizarre incident involving a motor vehicle accident with a deer early this morning.

According to the state police in DuBois, Scott Egolf of Punxsutawney was traveling west on state Route 830. A vehicle driven by Rosemary Bower of Brookville was traveling east, behind a vehicle driven by Rocco Ford of Brookville. Egolf observed a deer enter the roadway and applied his brakes. He was unable to avoid striking the deer.

The deer and Egolf’s vehicle impacted, causing the deer to go airborne. The deer then struck the windshield of Bower’s vehicle. This impact cut the deer in half. The head and shoulders went through the windshield and hit Bowers. She contineud east for about four-tenths of a mile before striking Ford’s vehicle. She then continued on shortly before traveling onto the south berm, where her vehicle came to rest in a ditch.

After the initial impact, police said Egolf drove his vehicle to a controlled stop on the north berm. He then turned around and traveled back in search of the other vehicle but was unable to locate Bower’s vehicle. Egolf was later located at his place of employment and advised of the information pertaining to the accident.

Neither Egolf nor Ford were injured.

Police were assisted at the scene by members of the Falls Creek Volunteer Fire Department, the Jefferson County Coroner and the Forensic Services Unit of the PSP, Punxsutawney.

Police said that as per the direction of the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office, no charges will be filed in the incident.

I don't reply to many informative post here but I read them every day. The BE vs Doc thing is always entertaining.

I'm really disrupted by the :P by Doc on the deer thing...It actually pisses me off actually.

With the encroachment on society into the realms of habitat for these animals it's only natural for high speed encounters. An employee at the place I work has wrecked 3 vehicles in the last couple months...I guess that's :P too???

I'm with SitFlyer on this one... the smiley is quite inappropriate for the post... It may be different for a Darwin-award candidate, but this is just a freak accident where an innocent person got very unlucky.

It does sound like a Final Destination scene though, does it not?

I agree with SitFlyer and VJ that the smilee is not appropriate.
OK, this was unavoidable, and a very 'different' way to go, but not funny.

Sorry if it offended, but in these parts there is a tendency towards what we call 'gallows humor.' It would be interpreted akin to 'WTF.'

that article do read like a script for a "final destination" movie, just as confusing and hard to read...
