  • Note to self: do not vent on the road

Hit some car today slightly - only scratched bumper and fallen off licence plate. Looked much worse when I was braking downhill towards standing car. I know the person in the other car and he doesn't care - my insurance will cover it.

I went through much stress these days, so I was a bit careless, wet road after a long dry period and I was a venting my nerves. Very stupid of me. Need to find other healthier ways to vent.

Been there, done that - then I bought a heavyweight punching bag and gloves. I then learned to hold it in & took things out on the bag later. That bag went through hell

Good to hear it was nothing bad and that the other party also kept his calm.

I've noticed for me that the type of music I play in the car can make a huge difference: I discovered here this radiostation that has this chill-out music, and it is really perfect in morning traffic. (I for instance noticed that David Bowie makes me drive faster)

Also just making sarcastic comments half loud on manoeuvres other people make (usually pointing out their stupidity: "wow... what a manoeuvre! You advanced 1 car in the whole traffic jam" - and then passing him by coincidence in the next lane makes it even more fun) also helps to not get the aggression to boil up.

I haven't been training in a while - I have the gloves, live punching bags are missing.

I've been mainly listening to streamlined episode 047 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz5f3--H69c (some live show on ah.fm internet radio) in car lately. It's been 8-12h nonstop every work for a few weeks straight now.

Music makes a huge difference to how you drive.
I listen to oldies in the car, keeps the pulse low and stress low too.
i did my own bit of vigilanteism once when some ****oles were cutting past everyone on the hard shoulder. Its not worth the hassle. They litterally chased me down the road for the next 10kms, trying to get in front of me to pull me over.
They didnt and went on their way, i never did it again.
Stress in traffic jams is a killer.
Right now i have a 20min drive through country roads, no traffic jams, no slowdowns except for the odd tractor from time to time. No stress ;-)

DON'T get in front of me if Steppenwolf or George Thorogood and the Destroyers are on the radio, especially 'Born to be Wild.'

Same here, sometimes I get all nervous and stressed especially when I am in a hurry to get somewhere, I usually let it out at the dojo, poor students who train with me
