The progress isn't just with my strength & mobility.

I have been on 2 types of insulin; Novolog (short acting before meals) and Lantus (long acting once/day.)

I am now totally off Novolog - just one 40u dose of Lantus with my evening snack and that may get reduced to 25u - 30u.

This while eating more calories (now at 2,400) and losing weight.

Credit: my greatly increased workout regime. Think I'll keep it.

                  The rehab team here rocks

And my OT gal has a world-class ass to boot

Just had a surprise visit from Prosthetics. They just took a mold for my first training prosthesis, so I may be walking a few steps late next week!!

These people don't waste time - from an almost dead puddle with kidney failure and the blood chemistry of a 1960 Buick to (almost) walking again in ~5 weeks.

Apparentle the prosthesis they're planning on using has no harness, belts etc. - it's a gel-lined washable sleeve that covers much of my thigh and "sticks" by suction.

A fitting at the bottom will take an adjustable (for length) leg post (tibia), which will attach to a fully articulated and sprung super-alloy / carbon fiber ankle joint and sprung foot (heel and toes.) These will be covered by a synthetic sleeve that looks like a lower leg & foot.

Very cool - it'll take shoes, boots and let me run & drive.
