One of the prosthetic feet I'm being offered. One step below their paralympic foot.
Getting cast for a new leg attachment system this coming Monday. Once I get and get used to that, 2-4 months, they'll start measuring and ordering the foot.
Wish it were sooner, but they say it's better to get used to one change at a time. Dammit.
Specs:
Good to 356 lb patients (lots of head-room there)
Polycentric design provides advanced stance-phase control and facilitates independent heel and toe adjustment
Superior range of motion for the most natural gait pattern available today
True multiaxial function with transverse rotation for optimum terrain compliance (good for cross-country)
Shock-absorbing cushioning provides a smooth, controlled stride
Custom built to the patient
Comes with a natural looking foot cover, right down to toe nails & skin texture

Progression -
Faceplant, porch, entry way, living room floor, couch, squad, ER, ICU, OR x3, hospital bed, PARC, PT/OT, wheelchair, (+prosthesis), walker, HOME, more prosthetics, and now....one more step towards true independence -
Obviously still working on my balance & need to progress into the active ankle & foot, but every day a higher percentage of my time is spent using this. Next steps after this is a 1-point cane, then NO CANE, the bionics and driving.
ABOUT fracking TIME!!Dr. Mordrid

Good to hear it is going well.
I hope I'll never have to deal with it but if I do, your way would be my, uhm, aspiration?
So how much time can you walk a day and what's keeping you from walking more? Tireness, pain?Join MURCs Distributed Computing effort for Rosetta@Home and help fight Alzheimers, Cancer, Mad Cow disease and rising oil prices.

They've cast my residual limb for a definitive prosthesis
After the casting it'll take a while to get back the liner, then they re-cast it with that on. Since the limb socket, foot etc. are custom made it 'll be 2-4 weeks after the second casting.
Looks liks the prosthesis will have a LiIon rechargeable vacuum pump attachment to the residual limb with cordless inductive recharging and a Bluetooth remote control. Foot will likely have a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder / "Achilles tendon" whose pressure & valve parameters can also be adjusted. It's also waterproof to 10 meters in fresh water, so I'll be able to shower standing etc.
Sheesh....nervous.Dr. Mordrid

Then there are bionic arms. This one is about 1+ generations old. The new one in FDA trials can play the piano.
