Bryan Singer to Produce TWILIGHT ZONE TV Series Reboot

Though NBC’s Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane ultimately didn’t move forward as a series, Bryan Singer is taking another stab at the “TV show reboot” world. Deadline reports that Singer will executive produce and possibly direct a remake of The Twilight Zone for CBS Studios. The original series, from Rod Serling, aired on CBS from 1959-1964 and was subsequently followed by a remake that ran from 1985-1989. Singer is currently look for a writer to pen the new series, and the show has not yet been pitched to networks. Deadline notes that CBS is an obvious destination for the series, though, as CBS Studios only produces broadcast series for CBS and the CW.

A feature film iteration of The Twilight Zone is also in the works at Warner Bros., though Matt Reeves recently left the director’s chair in favor of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Singer is no stranger to television, as he executive produced the hit Fox series House and ABC’s shortlived Dirty Sexy Money. He’s currently prepping to start production on the X-Men sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past.

It always worries me when FTA stations do these series. A couple of weeks with low ratings and it's canceled or chucked into the death watch hour..

That's too bad that they won't follow up the Munsters reboot pilot with a series. I enjoyed revisiting that old campy show with the new pilot's darker tone and was looking forward to more episodes. I watched all of the "Munsters" when it first aired. I recently also saw a special on the original "Munsters" and it's reincarnations along with follow-ups on the original cast.
