  • Psychology basics

OK, so thanks to facebook I recently reconnected with ex classmate and we have lots of talks on psychology, personal development and we are being sucked into the topic.

We both had one year of psychology and have read a few things afterwards but I'd like to keep it above pseudoscience, so I'd like to read up a bit.

What I'm interested in is Jung, personality types, development, suggestions, forming thoughts and their influence, recognizing problems/barriers from the past and eliminating them.

I guess I'd like to start from the basics, so I'd like some suggestions on stuff to read (English is fine).

I think the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator has its roots in Jungian psychology but I am not sure whether Jungian psychology lends itself to falsification and hence pseudoscience. Useful maybe, but science?

I asked on Tues but its doing the rounds at the moment as they are mostly assessment and recruitment specialists.

I still have some Academic contacts I can reach out to if needed. Now I think about it, I am sure one will be able to recommend his own books, some of which are core texts
