  • Hello from the other side

    Hi,

How are you all? I'm just about to climb the highest mountain in Australia, having been out here for a year from Scotland.

Seems weird to see I joined MURC back in 2000, 12 years... been in a few communities since then, and give MURC the very occasional check.

Anyway, just thought I'd say hello, see who's still around

    Paul.
    Meet Jasmine.

Ha, any time I've been on I think you were the last poster... I think you're a bot

I think I drifted off some time after the Parhelia. Loved that time. I was telling someone I was on here, and rather than try explain it was after a Canadian graphics card manufacturer I left it as a "tech hardware community".

I think our common link isn't just Matrox, but a desire for quality perhaps?

I do miss those days though - I remember knowing basically everything about the TNT/TNT2/G200/G400/Voodoo era. Now I just pick a reasonable ATi card (sadly my travel laptop is NVIDIA-based), but I don't care as much about the tech scene. 7 years in a less techy job just about killed me, but I'm on the way out/up now. I played WoW for a while (very heavily for a year maybe), and met some of my fellow "geeks" from the team and I really enjoyed being around geeks again. Not that I'm a nerd, but certainly to some extent.

Well, I'm just rambling. Nice to see you all, which is genuine, but feels weird. Those little usernames, avatars... *Group hug*

Say Maggi ... do you still run SCSI? I still use SCSI in my old P2B-S box (Win2K) but I abandoned it in later PCs since the cost/performance didn't make sense any more with the newer techs. I've never had a problem with the HDD drives and they've been running daily for 14 years.

I am also still using 2 U160 harddisks in my old dual Xeon (which - even though it has close to 10 years - is still my main computer)... But for new systems, there is little point I agree...

The cabling was always so damn expensive. I'm in need of an active terminator and called up a friend to see if he had an extra and he told me he tossed all his SCSI equipment. Just tossed it!!! Day late and a dollar short.

                              Luckilly, the drives were cheap.
