  • I have a new disease!

It is called football fatigue. Attacks are provoked by opening newspapers, switching on TV or radio, looking at news websites etc. Symptoms include repeated yawning and drowsiness, punctuated by fits of anger provoked by seeing 22 men (?) chasing a ball on a green background, like kids in a school playground, on every single bluddy TV channel. without any choice.

My doc has prescribed diazapam for the disease which will probably improve noticeably in 4 weeks.

    Has anyone else caught it?

I'm no masochist, and easily avoid the venues where the football news is reported. Only had a minor issue so far with high temperatures here in Grenoble (high thirties during the afternoon, mid-to-high twenties during the night) where sleeping with the window open is the only option, and some neighbours deciding to throw a (quite noisy) football watching marathon with friends that lasted till the early morning due to the time zone difference with Brazil.

I seem to have fairly successfully avoided it by organising or attending various clashing meetings on a completely unrelated topic. Many of my colleagues are infected but thankfully their symptoms only seem to show for a few minutes at the start of the day.

I don't think I am totally immune though. I drew Germany in the company sweepstake so one ear pricks up from time to time. There is money at stake!

I'm also not much of a football fan... And Polish team is not playing, so it is quite calm here on that front. But still, I'm a bit curious how Belgium would manage, they are considered outsiders that might make it far.
