  • DareDevil: Season 2 (Netflix, 2016)

    YAY!!!!

This turned out far better than my expectations. VERY DARK, the fight choreography is extremely well done, the sound during the fights very realistic, and Vincent D'Onofrio is just great as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. He absolutely nailed it - creepy good.

Daredevil Renewed for Season 2 by Netflix With New Showrunners

Marvels Daredevil will continue to fight crime in Hells Kitchen but with new bosses.

Netflix has renewed the series for Season 2, which is slated to premiere in 2016.

Taking the helm for the second season are executive producers Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Horror Story) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy), who worked closely with Season 1 showrunner Steven DeKnight and creator Drew Goddard.

I've watched the first few episodes. So far I'm very impressed. I'm actually surprised this didn't show up on a 10 PM time slot on ABC or a cable partner channel.

Yep. This could have been successful anywhere. Looking forward to S2.

So can someone please explain why we are now seeing so many Netflix only shows?
Is it cheaper for the producers?

I do look forward to S2, great series so far

Netflix gives the producers and actors creative freedoms most other networks do not.

In 'Marco Polo' they gave them $9 million per episode (10 a season), script control, the ability to structure it as a movie and the right to the final cut - no studio coming in and chopping up their work.

Kevin Spacey (a big Netflix fan) said the same about 'House of Cards' in interviews, and so did the producers of 'Orange is the New Black' and 'Daredevil'.

Thanks Doc, makes perfect sense! I guess the same goes for HBO...no?

Pretty much, but with somewhat less control over the final cuts. Netflix is getting quite a rep as a place for creators who want that control. It shows with award nominations starting to roll in.
