  • Lucifer (2016: Fox TV + DC/Vertigo) TRAILER

    Series ordered

Based on Neil Gaiman's Lucifer comics from Vertigo (DC's arthouse label), a spinoff of The Sandman which is one of the few comics on the NY Times Best Seller list.

There are rumors that the theme music will be Sympathy for the Devil, and that in the pilot Lucifer Morningstar gets stopped by a cop for speeding. When asked why he was speeding he claims that the [Rolling] Stones music made him do it

Fox's take on Lucifer has been given the greenlight, and you can see Tom Ellis as the man himself along with the official title treatment after the jump...

First Look At Tom Ellis As LUCIFER; Show Gets A Series Order At Fox

The series stars Tom Ellis (Rush) in the title role as Lucifer, who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals. Co-starring alongside Ellis are Lauren German (Chicago Fire) as Chloe Dancer, an LAPD homicide detective who finds herself both repulsed and fascinated by Lucifer; Lesley-Ann Brandt (Spartacus) as Lucifer’s best friend Maze, a fierce demon who takes the form of a human woman; Nicholas Gonzalez (Sleepy Hollow) as Dan, an LAPD homicide detective wary of Lucifer; D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, an angel sent to L.A. to persuade Lucifer to return to hell; and Rachael Harris as Linda, Lucifer’s therapist.

That actually maybe fun. I like lucifer/devil flicks (and sofar, none beat I, Lucifer by Glenn Duncan).

Yes, but it's on FOX. No telling whether it will last past one season. They have a track record of canning good scifi/fantasy shows after one season.

I admit I'm not up on my comic-book mythos. I always thought Lucifer was more on the supply side of crime.
