"However, it would have to be given with the appropriate nutritional advice, you can't live on such tablets."
Spot-on, first thought that crossed my mind is that no anorexic should get hold of such pills. Regular people should use with caution.

Wouldn't this just produce fat people with distended bellies in the long run?
What is the long term success rate of stomach stapling?

Since when did over-eating neccessarily have anything to do with feeling hungry?

                Exactly!
And with this the obsessive over-eaters would just get stretched stomachs.

Stomach stapling has proven to be very successful if done right. however, their are definite health risks and possibly body damage to bad staples or rips and tears. There is a new method that deals with band they put around the stomach that is filled with saline to compress the stomach. You can have more saline put in or have some taken out depending on your needs and as far as the beginning of the year no one had been adversely affected. Health insurance will actually cover it now if there is real medical need such as weight induced problems and/or thyroid problems.

the way i look at this... it's quite possible you could lace it with nutrients, vitamins, etc...

still no replacement for heathly eating, but you could quite possibly turn it into something somewhat benefical

I'd think from the pure safety point of view this would be better than surgery, especially if there are no problems with obstruction etc. Added nutrients? Sure, why not?
