LOS ANGELES (Kyodo) A U.S. unit of Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday its fuel-cell-electric motor hybrid vehicle successfully completed a 2,300-mile (3,680-km) run from Fairbanks, Alaska, to Vancouver, British Columbia.
Over the course of it seven-day trek, the vehicle got more than 300 miles (480 km) per tank of liquid hydrogen, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. said at a news conference at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The experiment, using a vehicle based on the Highlander sport utility vehicle, "confirmed substantial progress in reliability and durability, cold-weather operation and extended range capability of Toyota's hybrid fuel-cell system," TMS said in a press release.
