  • Advanced CT scanner

Philips has introduced their new high speed 3D Brilliance iCT scanner at the RSNA (Radiologic Society of North America) meeting in Chicago.

The Brilliance iCT is a 256 slice system, allowing it to do scans of the heart in just 2 beats. It also delivers a dose to the patient 80% less than previous scanners by way of propriatory X-ray tubes, detectors and reconstruction design elements.

the exponential curve that is medicine never ceases to amaze me. This would have been useful back in 1999 when I started going down the path of figuring out why I was getting migraines. I received far to many CT's and MRI's. In the end it was still "lets try these dozen different cocktails and see what helps in the end." This even though I got the department head of nuerology department to look in my head. Still I'm hopeful with this kind of tech and advancement from 10-20 years down the line.
