  • DAWN mission update....

    DAWN is a mission sent to examine in detail the minor planet
    Ceres and the large asteroid Vesta. She has 3 ION drives and
    recently went into cruise mode on her way to Vesta. On the way
    there DAWN will do a flyby of Mars and no doubt try out her
    imaging systems and sensors.

    More info at the DAWN mission home page....

    There's a long and very detailed post in the Planetary Societies
    "Dawn Journal" blog by Dr. Marc Rayman, Dawns Project System
    Engineer, detailing her recent progress which includes entering
    interplanetary cruise mode.

    An absolutely GREAT read;

    Blog post....

    Part of the included material is this pic of NGC 3532 (Wishing Well Cluster)
    and NGC 3372 (Carina Nebula) taken by Dawn's framing camera;
