    Just to let you guys know that Raytheon has been contracted by the DoD for a hand-held submillimeter wavelength microwave weapon - essentially a phaser on stun.

    Not too many details or links yet other than that the contracts been signed, but they must be pretty far along as rumors of this thing have been leaking out for 2-3 years. Most likely they've solved the power problem due to new battery techs.

    The weapon is based on Raytheon's gallium-nitride emitters. Some rumors say it can also burn despite everyone talking about its non-lethality..

    It always comes down to the power output

    Reminds me of the idea that an Aegis cruiser could pump up the wattage on its main radar until it became an weapon against objects the crew was not allowed to fire at :devous:
