    As the MESSENGER spacecraft approached Mercury yesterday it took this shot from 26,900 km (16,700 miles) - MESSENGER has a highly elliptical orbit and is set orbit Mercury for over a year.

    Awesome shot!!
    Mercury is one big Iron based planet with it's our layer stripped by the heat of the sun. Simply amazing!
