A new plane has been observed flying from Beale AFB in California, and it's had a very Burt Rutan-ish look to it. Now we know it's the Scaled Composites Model 355, and it looks to be a medium altitude/long endurance (MALE) signal intelligence (SIGINT) plane, this because of the antenna arrays on its belly. What's interesting is that it also appears to observers that it's optionally manned or operable as a drone.
Of course Scaled is now part of Northrop Grumman, so one wonders if they're now NG's version of Northrop's Skunk Works or Boeing's Phantom Works? Sure looks like it.
