  • Oxygen supply bypassing lungs

    Surprised doc missed this one:
Six years ago, Dr. John Khier of Boston Children’s Hospital began investigating the idea of using injectable oxygen on patients whose lungs were incapacitated or whose airways were blocked. He was prompted to do so after a young girl that he was caring for passed away – she succumbed to a brain…

Now, Khier is reporting that his team has injected gas-filled microparticles into the bloodstreams of oxygen-deprived lab animals, successfully raising their oxygen levels back to normal levels within seconds.

TriOx, right out of Star Trek. Just bundle the O2 up in a lipid cage and you're off. Should be extremely useful in emergency situations, COPD, etc.

Didn't miss it but have been busy & forgot to post it.

It is not TriOx, which is a breathing gas used in diving: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trimix_...peroxic_trimix

Nor is it the liquid breathing think as was used in The Abyss: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_breathing

It really is a direct injection in the bloodstream.
