My Celeron Tualatin 1.2 o/c'ed to 1380 at stock 1.475v warms up to ~40c (case temp 26c) running Prime95 torture test and/or cpuburn burnp6.exe. This is with an Alpha 6035, 23.5 cfm fan, and original AS grease.

well, there is a 0.05 micron difference between the tualatin and coppermine core so a difference is to be expected, but i just found out my "arctic silver" isnt real arctic silver.

Whatever you do, change that HS setup right now. 70c is extremely high. It seems you're not so willing to go and spend some hard earned cash on a neew cooler, but you have to.

Get a decent SocketA heatsink that fits and mount it on and it should never go above 50. Do it now and don't use your computer until you get a new cooler.

with the socket 7 cooler is doesnt go above the 55 as long as i dont start watching video's and stuff, so i guess it'll have to do till i can get a new one (i just wont do any processor intensive stuff).
so what cooler do you guys recommend?
i dont have a lot of space due to the slot 1 converter

That 55 at idle and 70 when you do anything aint going to cut it. But hey, it's not my CPU!

Get a Thermaltake Volcano (whatever), it's cheap and sufficient for your CPU.

Edit: Oops, missed the Slot 1 converter. disregard what I proposed. Although a Taisol CGK760092 should fit, but be shure to check it though as it may not be compatible.

Actually no, get a copper 1u socA/370 hsf.

Alternatively, use it to cook some eggs and perhaps beacons and put them in a roll with ketchup.

Seems that is an alarmingly popular trend. If you contact Arctic Silver with the purchase information for the fake stuff, they'll send you some real AS for free.

why don't you just get some new fans for the old cooler, what temps did it get when the fans were working?.

I still recommend something better, but if its not crashing/locking, then I don't see how it is damaging things the way it is.

I'm doing ~45 in the hottest of summer days and right now 34. Over 50 you should really worry, overclocked or not.
Find yourself a new cooler

@Admiral: total agree. my thunderbird 1.4 (HOTHOTHOT) only goes up to 47 max on the hottest summer days. 81 C... ehh... problem goes into the records for "hottest running CPU without freezen" ... but.. 81... i dun even know how to describe that.
