Help me find a new mobile phone

Hi,

I'll be getting my first mobile phone. Unfortunately, I can't afford a P900 or somesuch, so I am looking for a nice phone which is small enough to conveniently carry in my trouser pockets and big enough to still allow me to use it. I hate protruding antennas, I wouldn't want to have a phone which needs two hands to open. I don't need a camera, I don't want to surf the net or e-mail (except if email was as cheap as SMS), I need good reception. I like good looks and technically interesting gadgets.

I think I like the Siemens SL65, anyone have any experience with this one or maybe another suggestion? Thank you very much

you'll be dissapointed by the poor quality of the keypad (I am assuming you have more thicker fingers) and the not top quality slider mechanism.

Well, that was my impression anyways when I used it. But it is indeed a nice looking phone.

If you are looking for oldies, I Highly recommend a S55! Its just awesome....Build quality top-notch too, Siemens did a good job. I've not experienced anything bad with it so far, it does not slow down, even when the memory is full of SMS messages, reception is excellent, and it looks damn good too!

Its full of technical stuff, bluetooth, java, you can sync it with your computer, upload new pics, ring tones, edit them using siemens data suit, its jammed packed with features....well its a business phone really!

To be honest, I am so happy with this, that I am not upgrading for a VERY long while (not until this dies)...and you know how picky I am sometimes

Check the newest Sony Ericsson models. I'm happy with my 630

I'd say that Sony Ericsson phones are very nice and usable nowadays, their menu system is the most intuitive imo. The T610 or T630 can be found at very decent prices nowadays and have a good screen & looks to match

The T610 is known for poor reception, at least the US versions.

You should go for the SonyEricsson K700i. It's probably the best phone on the market right now (excluding smartphones of course). It looks nice, has a lot of features and has a very good reception (as good as the best Sagem or Nokia).

I have a Siemens S35i (ok, you won't be able to find this anymore), but the menusystem is excellent (very intuitive). From what I hear, newer Siemens phones keep this usability.

I have a Samsung E105, my first cell phone, and I'm really happy. It's a flip phone, but I always open it with 1 hand. Very small, very light.

My bro and friend have the Samsung V300 which is slightly bigger and a bit heavier. It comes with a camera phone.

get a flip phone, you'd be surprized how many times buttons get pressed while in your pockets.
I've got a samsung t100 - it's a couple years old, but it's got fairly large buttons, no fancy colours and it's worked flawlessly since the day I've bought it.
