LOL IE7 released with security hole

M$ has been adding Genuine Advantage to a lot of their new software; Windows Media Encoder Studio Edition, the MediaPlayer 11 beta etc.

What does this do even when my software is already activated though?

What does it mean, it installs the wga tool and checks if you have a valid cd key to allow you to download certain updates. And as Doc said, more recently, it was extended from windows updates to a wider range of software.

Activation extended, extra check... don't know how to call wga... more like pain in the ass for legit users, like most protection measures.

Knee jerk reporting yesterday, the exploit is not in IE7 but Outlook Express, getting fanboys to accept that though is pointless.

Interesting. That was some pretty widespread knee-jerking, but that's what happens when security firms are the ones releasing the initial reports of it - it becomes trustworthy information.

Hopefully IE can stay exploit free for a bit longer then.

Apparently it does not like scripted popups even if they are simple text windows.
