I just tried your suggestion and although the banding is reduced by quite a margin, it is still there ...

This sort of fits my observations that the higher the framerate, the more obvious the banding and when I have VSync enabled, the framerates are capped to my monitor refresh.

I thought he meant VSync, but if there is indeed a VBlank, where do I find it???

-> goto Quality and Performance Settings
-> goto Game and 3D Settings

Yes, I looked tehre too, but dont see "wait for V-Blank" option.

he meant that you should enable VSync ...

basically VSync and VBlank is the same and if you look into PD, you'll read:
"Flip pages during vertical blanking (VSync) interval"

Sounds familiar to me. Changing the monitor cable seems to have helped some Radeon owners. Also RMA'ing helped some but not all, made in China vs. Canada seems to make a difference.

Don't have this problem just interferance from an unknown source which effects both my G550 and my Radeon Pro.

I have an update on the banding issue. The level of banding seems to be dependent on a combination of factors including the system configuration, power supply, graphics card, display refresh rate, frame rate of the 3D application, and the actual colors being displayed on the screen. That is why the issue was just noticed recently and only by a handful of people. While a fix has not been identified as yet, for those of you who have a situation where this problem is visible, we recommended you download the 1.02 driver and enable the "wait for V-blank" switch in PowerDesk. This will help reduce the effect of the problem for most windowed 3D applications.

not to bash Haig (i really hate to shoot the messenger) but the v-sync """""fix""""" was noticed 2 months ago...

and i do find the wording of the statement a little funny... basically anything under the sun could be causing the problems and it could wind up being blamed on the motherboard/power supply that each of us is using, not any particular fault with our video cards...

I'd still want to hear an official response if I'm stuck with my faulty 540,- € retail Parhelia or if Matrox is going to replace/fix/refund the cards that are affected ...

Maybe anyone from the Matrox in-house lurkers could point the responsible "Matrox employee in charge" to this thread in order to get things moving ?
