You're trying to compare the rumored shipping specs of Matrox's new card with the overclocked numbers that some Ti4600 users get from their cards.
Even worse, you're theorizing that some cards might come slower than the rumored specs. So you're downgrading the Parhelia rumors to try to compare them to overclocked nVidia numbers. What kind of sense does that make?
The reason i did downgrade some of the specs have to do with making them relatively afordable...Not everyone is willing to sink close to a grand to get the best version of the card you know...
And far far as the GF4's memory clocks go, it's not that some get...all of them do at least as far as memory clocks go,there's a difference you know...
But ultimately,memory bandwiths are fairly meningless anyhow,since it all depends on specific optimizations done on board the graphic chip itself,that'll determine overall performance...
Suppose you use that much memory bandwith on a chip desing that uses deferred rendering tech,like the kyro chips use and add enough rendering pipelines and texture units to make use of it all,top it all off with a nice programable T.L engine and you'd have most likely enough rendering power to run any game at 1600*1200 with 4x AA enabled and 128 tap aniso at over 100 fps...in games like DOOM 3,and would most likely run circles around anything Matrox,Nvidia or ATI release this year....If it ever saw the light of day of course...

Its not going to be a cheap card, its a top end card(even the lower spec ones)
If you have the money It should be great..But I think for most of us 6months or a year after the initial release may the affordable time to buy.
Remember it will a 4 year life span(not 6 months), it will be "pro" high end to start, probably at least at least a year or so before it gets in to the normal users high end range.
Well thats my theory....my price point is going to be at about the $300 range, whens that going to happen?..

There hasn't been a card yet that will realistically last 4 years as a viable gaming card for pretty much every game that will be released within that timeframe...
If parhelia ends up lasting the average 2~2 1/2 year lifespan,that's already not too shabby at all...note to self...

yeah 4 years is pushing it, but there will some incremental upgrades along the way
And the end of it life cycle it will be cheap card pumped out for oems and business..at which time everybody will be saying Matrox has been out of the gaming market for so long and can no longer release a competive card..but the will still be in business and will probably release a new killer card anyway.
They have good business cycle going..it works
But back to the my orginal question...when will there bea $300(US) dollar version(thats $700(AUD ..ouch) by the time gets to Australia.
when do I get one?...
