Istanbul is 100% in Europe, as it's on the W side of the Bosporus, which is the boundary. The E side is in Asia, but no part of Istanbul is on the E side. Capisce?Brian (the devil incarnate)

Nope to both. Actually, I can hardly think of anywhere that looks less like San Diego.
As for Novosibirsk, I don't think a) the Ob river is as broad as the water you see here or b) there are mountains close by. However, you are getting slightly warmer, if one can get warm in Asian Russia
