Well, it may happen to be above the tree line. I think this is quite probable as I believe the altitude to be about 2300 m asl.

'Tis indeed: the world's tallest gravity dam (I think 280 m, if my memory is right) and probably the biggest block of concrete.
It is estimated that, if it ever suddenly fails (God forbid!), 90% of the inhabitants of the Bas Valais from Brigue to St Maurice will probably be drowned, as they will have a maximum of 10 minutes to escape to high ground. Below St Maurice, there will also be a considerable number of deaths due to a surge of water and a tsunami about 10 m high will sweep through Lac Léman (Lake of Geneva) causing wholesale destruction (with about 25 min warning) through such towns as Villeneuve, St Gingolph, Montreux, Vevey, Lausanne, Evian, Thonon, Morges, Nyon and Geneva.Brian (the devil incarnate)
