    RedRed;

JFK was in power up through 1993. His tax cuts were passed well before then and the after effects on the economy lasted until the 1973 oil embargo threw a monkey wrench into things. After that was over Jimmy Carter was elected and royall screwed things up until the Regan tax cuts brought the US back into a growth spiral in the early '80's.

Walmart stats, Walmart schmatz. I shop there every day and know a bunch of people who work there. This kind of demographics are best investigated on the ground, not from the lofty ivory towers of some universities nitwit statistician.

On the other hand, the only people I know who are into video-editing are here at MURC. Video-editors tend to be old, have serious and/or significant health issues and they are all white. Ground research may be great to start with to at least get some sense of the object your studying, but the pitfalls in keeping with that are plenty.
Join MURCs Distributed Computing effort for Rosetta@Home and help fight Alzheimers, Cancer, Mad Cow disease and rising oil prices.

(important to note that spend on maintaining the current stocks of Plutonium and other fisciles are now the department of ENERGY - not the military budget)

        on the kenedy tax cut:
A liberal essay rebutting the myth that tax cuts increase tax collections.

The Kennedy tax cuts are another favorite supply-side myth; many claim that once the tax cuts went into effect in 1964, income tax collections grew. But as you can see from the chart below, growth in income tax collections sharply dropped off:

Federal Income Tax Collections (Constant dollars, CPI-U) (3)

Year Receipts Percent change from previous year
        --------------------------------------------------
        1961 $138,069 ---
        1962 150,567 + 9.0%
        1963 155,375 + 3.2
        1964 156,804 + 0.9 < tax cut takes effect
        1965 154,475 - 1.5

In 1965, the economy was in the fifth year of a nine-year expansion, and for income tax collections to see negative growth was, again, most uncharacteristic. Income tax collections did rise in 1966, but by this time President Johnson was accelerating the economy with Keynesian deficit spending on the Vietnam War. (These deficits he hid by unifying the federal budget with Social Security.) The greater economic activity resulted in more tax collections, and to disentangle any alleged supply-side benefits from the Keynesian benefits is all but impossible.
THe tax cut was a sham -or rather it was an effective panacea as was subsequently claimed.

Careful. Every time I say this people jump down my throat and try to rip me a new one. I have strong digestive juices though. And I think you're being too nice. Most professional athletes would need a SERIOUS boost in IQ just to gain autonomic nervous system functions.

Rant rant rant doctors are overpaid rant rant rant...
Dude, do you have ANY idea how much medical school costs? 8 years of student loans puts you EASILY a couple hundred grand in the hole to START. Then you add to that a not-particularly-well-paying internship, the damage you do to your health and psyche working 24-hour shifts... they deserve every damn penny. Add to that the fact that many doctors now pay more for malpractice insurance than any two normal people's salaries COMBINED. In Pennsylvania, doctors could NOT have private practices, because when you earn $200k a year but have to pay $210k a year for insurance (YES, LITERALLY that much in some cases!) it's ridiculous. They would team up and put 12 doctors in a practice to get a group discount on insurance.

Pure capitalism is as unworkable as pure communism, but unfortunately too many Americans are convinced otherwise. This has produced the society where a subhuman moron like Mike Tyson can make $30 million for ten minutes work, while a dozen dedicated teachers taken together will not make this during their entire careers! Hardly the "cream rising to the top" as those who worship unfettered laissez-fairism would have you believe.
          This is true. Absolutely.

We are in a defacto feudal society today, whether you want to admit it or not.. blah blah rant blah
No, we're really not. You and I are free to have a great idea, bust our ass, and make a million dollars, or two or ten or thirty. There are no class enforcements. That's the difference. I agree with you to a point - we are stratified to an alarming degree. But it's hardly "feudal". Please. You don't have any idea how bad a serf has it.

blah blah fiscal blah blah We need to turn around and go back, not to a point at the other extreme, but to a sensible place of balance, where there is room in this world for the English teacher and the humble priest, and these people can support their families decently, even at the expense of doctors losing their $100,000 automobiles and CEOs having two or three fewer vacation homes apiece.
          Ok a couple quick thoughts:

          1. Priests don't have families. 'Cuz the Catholic Church is run by a buncha evil faggot pedophiles working for Darth Benedict. Just so we're clear.

          2. Teachers being woefully underpaid is a regional thing. In some parts of the country teachers make out just fine. I agree that they ALL deserve HAZARD PAY. But let's not pretend that ALL teachers are starving. We live in a capitalist society after all, as you have pointed out around a million times. If they were REALLY all starving, they wouldn't be teachers any more.

            RedRed,

Doc is saying, let me clear this up... that JFK's influence lasted until 1993. Not that the man himself was in power that long. Hell, he got shot in '63. Good riddance, too - but don't let them hear you saying that out loud. He and his ugly wife ruled from "CAMELOT", don'tchaknow. They were beautiful people. Defined the American dream. Y'know, the dream that says "**** around on your wife, hide a crippling disease from the public, oh... and when you learn of your husband's infidelities, just suck it up and ignore them like a good little doormat".

Which of course is DIFFERENT from what Billary did. I mean, she ignored them for political gain. Jackie O just ignored them because... well... she was a dumbass.

A couple of points.. Priests DO have families.. if they didn't, I would not exist nor would my father, since both he and my grandfather were ANGLICAN priests. Episcopalians, Lutherans, Methodists, etc.. all educate their clergy well and they can and do marry and raise families. These are the clergymen no one talks about since they are not fondling altar boys or screaming fire and brimstone since their "calling" at age 12. No one talks about them because they are the majority which are decent and honest and worthy pastors, and as such will not do as examples for those whose agenda is to destroy Christianity. Honestly, no one with any sense will listen to your opinions on religion when it looks like you just have an axe to grind with all of Christianity because the people who practice it are far from perfect. The Catholic clergy has had a few bad eggs, yes.. the bishops did a piss poor job of handling those bad eggs, yes. It does not mean their hearts are full of malice, and it does not make Christianity as a whole a bad thing. Let's not carry on with this though.. religion is too tempish and we've been through this too much already.

No, we're really not. You and I are free to have a great idea, bust our ass, and make a million dollars, or two or ten or thirty. There are no class enforcements. I did say it was a matter of degree.. and surely you will understand the principle of over-emphasis to make a point. You and I have the freedom to have a great idea, yes. If we bust our ass and develop that idea, megacorps are free to swoop down and steal it with impunity because they have more money than you and I do to pay lawyers and bribe congressmen.

The absence of class enforcements actually allow enough contact between rich and poor to drive home to the have-nots how little they really do have. When someone tells me his golf club membership is "not that much, only $200 a month," or casually says his flight to China (to line up the cheapo suppliers) was $5000 each way, and THEN has the gall to say I'm gouging him for the many hours 4 of our people spent installing high quality custom audio and video in his house, when I (as the manager even) cannot even begin to afford to buy a decent house or get health insurance, yeah, I start to hate and resent rich people. Profusely. If you think there is not a big red line between rich and poor, I'm telling you that I see it every day. And this area does not even really have that many affluent people.

As for doctors, the hell they get put through as residents is uncalled for, and the tort reform that will REALLY work to lower insurance costs will never pass congress, because they are all trial lawyers or in the pockets of trial lawyers. Sorry for leaving them out, but lawyers are the crookedest bunch of ass holes in this country, they get away with it, and are arrogantly in your face about how they can squash you if they want to and you can't do jackshit about it. Some are not this way, but the proportion is more like 70% being the evil ones, whereas maybe at most 2% of the priests you are talking about were criminals. And lawyers and insurance companies have adversely affected the whole society with their greed to an extent they never should have been able to do. As dictator, I would instigate an inquisition of the whole legal profession, and add to the constitution checks and balances to prevent their abuse of power. (Yeah, before you say it.. but who would prevent my abuse of power? Et tu, Brute?)

Wow, a halfway sensible thought. Sadly, your insistence that the "good eggs" represent the "majority" of Christianity is far from the truth. In fact, the RCC can claim a far more massive membership than Anglican, Methodist (although Methodists don't have priests, don'tchaknow), Lutherans, and Episcopalians put together. The bulk of Christianity is either Catholic or "Born Again" Protestant - and both groups are equally deranged. Your view of Christianity as composed primarily of moderate, right-minded, free-thinking individuals is, sadly, a bit skewed. Not that I blame you. Just pointing out that the numbers don't jive.

And my goal isn't the destruction of Christianity. It's the destruction of the hateful and oppressive instutitions thereof... from which your happy moderate churches are perfectly safe.

I did say it was a matter of degree.. and surely you will understand the principle of over-emphasis to make a point. You and I have the freedom to have a great idea, yes. There is, in fact, a huge dichotomy. I will grant you that. But people make the transition all the time. Should the gap be smaller? Sure, I'll grant you a "should". But please tell me how to go about this without imposing socialist controls? How do you keep the rich from getting richer, without our government becoming something we REALLY don't want?

As for doctors, the hell they get put through as residents is uncalled for, and the tort reform that will REALLY work to lower insurance costs will never pass congress, because they are all trial lawyers or in the pockets of trial lawyers. Sadly, it's 100% aiding and abetting. That's the problem. If 2% of Catholic priests **** small boys in the ass, but the other 98% cover it up for them - that makes 100% of priests guilty of a felony. The fact that 100% of lawyers are ALSO ****ats doesn't make it any better. LOL.

And lawyers and insurance companies have adversely affected the whole society with their greed to an extent they never should have been able to do. You talk about the abuse of Kids.... I could say that having some bearded idiot slide his thumbnail under a babies forskin to preform a bris was perhaps not the most modern technique for circumscision.... Gotta say - I find that weird.

you have again posioned a perfectly intresting thread with your religious shit.
Oh feh. KvH went there, I just replied.

You have a problem with catholicism - and Chrisianity in general. Sit back and think on it.
Yes, I do. Very much so. I have a problem with ANY institution that supports the things that Catholicism supports. And I think that the vast majority of Christians are deluded - unaware of their OWN religion, nevermind any other.

If you are typical of your own creed, is it any wonder your faith got a slap during the pogroms?
Wow. Ok, so you're saying that me pointing out the flaws with Christianity is JUSTIFICATION for the slaughter of thousands? Wow. THAT'S THE DAMN PROBLEM WITH YOU CHRISTIANS. It's "ok" with you to respond to someone who insists that your religion is broken... by killing them and their family and everyone they know. That's what our new Pope stands for - Chief Inquisitioner that he is. How about you work on FIXING IT? No, that'd be too hard. How about you work on ACCOUNTABILITY? No, also too hard.

Why do I think Catholicism is entirely broken? Because the ENTIRE hierarchy is involved in collusion. You would insist that it's just a handful of bad eggs. But THEIR superiors covered it up - instead of reporting it to the police. Then THEIR superiors covered it up. Memos indicate that the coverup goes all the way up to the pope! That makes every damn one of them a felon. But thus far they've escaped prosecution - largely because there's still a powerful Catholic lobby. Lord knows if you or I did any of this we'd be locked away and NEVER LET OUT.

You talk about the abuse of Kids.... I could say that having some bearded idiot slide his thumbnail under a babies forskin to preform a bris was perhaps not the most modern technique for circumscision.... Gotta say - I find that weird.
Wow. So now circumcision - a practice which, by the way, 90% of the CHRISTIAN population of the USA also supports - is the equivalent of child rape?

Does ANYONE else see how I'm incredulous here?

                          Perceived Insults = Kill Thousands.
                          Circumcision = Rape Kids.

If these are the sort of parallels you draw, is it any WONDER you're confused about everything else?

Let me point out, since RedRed started the mudslinging, that in recent threads he has:

                            1. Said that it's ok to systematically kill civilians when you feel "oppressed".

                            2. That the Pogroms are justified since Jews "insult" Christianity.

                            3. That circumcision is as bad as the repeated rape and sodomizing of pre-teens.

Wow. That puts you RIGHT UP THERE in the respectability department. Next you're going to say that Hitler had some legitimate beefs with the Jews, that Stalin was "insulted" by his own people, or some other completely bizarre thing.

It's sad when you become SO LIBERAL and SO DELUDED that you start making these kinds of comparisons.

see, gurm thats what i mean.... twister-measilly mouthed loosah.
you have taken each of my sentences out of context - as for personal - look at what you are throwing out on the other thread - to some poor guy willing to stand up to you - get a life.

go get a job - perhaps Waslmart will take you on - Dr M might be able to put a word in. - Certaionly better than sitting on your arse waiting for the world to come running to the creative genius that is 'burning designs.....'

O perhaps you are now too busy to work - planning the overthrow of Chrisitanity.....
Dont just swallow the blue pill.

RedRed, do you even know what the term “quote out of context” means? He quoted your entire post! What context was he missing? Explain.

Did you "sit back and think on" the two egregious offenses to Judaism that you made?

                                Namely:
                                1) The Jews may have brought the pogroms onto themselves (through criticism of Chrisianity no less!); and
                                2) That there's something smarmy about the circumcision rite and that the Jewish community's continued use of moyels somehow parallels the Catholic Church’s systematic cover-up of rampant pedophilia.

RedRed, I’m not slinging mud. I’m asking you to ponder what you’ve written and consider retracting it.
                                P.S. You've been Spanked!
