It doesn't matter with managed code. And for 64bit code, they have options for favoring different cpus. It's just x86-32bit that they felt didn't benefit much from CPU optimization. Is it really such a big deal?

Seems the Visual C++ 2005 compiler includes a 64bit compiler, and you can use favor:AMD64, favor:Pentium4...etc
