(CNN) -- Investigators believe they have identified a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, a source who has been briefed on the investigation told CNN's John King exclusively.
The breakthrough came from analysis of video from a department store near the site of the second explosion. Video from a Boston television station also contributed to the progress, said the source, who declined to be more specific but called it a significant development.
Earlier, a federal law enforcement source with firsthand knowledge of the investigation told CNN that a lid to a pressure cooker thought to have been used in the bombings had been found on a roof of a building near the scene.
While such clues may move the investigation forward, they did not reveal whether the attack was an act of domestic or foreign terrorism.
"If your experience and your expertise is Middle East terrorism, it has the hallmarks of al Qaeda or a Middle East group," former FBI Assistant Director Tom Fuentes said. "If your experience is domestic groups and bombings that have occurred here, it has the hallmarks of a domestic terrorist like Eric Rudolph in the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics bombings."

Fuentes said he has investigated both types of terrorism -- from Iraq to the United States -- and finds the Boston attack has elements of both. "It has the hallmarks of both domestic and international (attacks), and you can see either side of that."

1, Here most terrorism, while on a smaller scale, is related to anti-abortion radicals.

2, Going by that, as a resident who heard Tim McVeigh's bomb go off and was a red cross volunteer in the aftermath and had two young neighbor kids that used to play in our yard killed, I should hate Christians and right wingers shouldn't I?
Should I hate Doc because he is to the right of me politically and, I assume, a Christian, like McVeigh was?

It is a fact that hating an entire group because of the actions of individuals is not logical.
It's also very common. As illustrated by Palestinians hatred of Jews in general. That's not exactly good company to be in.

1. Let's talk numbers. How many were killed in the 9/11 and other Islamist attacks and how many were killed by radical Christians? Please, give me some numbers to support your claim.
2. I see nothing wrong with hating a group such as the Westboro Baptist Church, do you? Unlike Yasser Arafat, when Doc and many other of his kin speak against violence, they actually mean it. I know, hard to believe, people condemning violence and actually meaning it. Wow! Give me a call next time you see people from his group giving away candy to celebrate someone's death. I'll make it easy for you, *ANYONE's* death. When they do that and when the rest of the population accepts said candy like it was Halloween eve and not someone's death, we'll draw comparisons. Deal?
So hating an entire group that loudly or silently condones the actions of many such individuals, seems quite legit to me. Your mileage may vary.

Oh and FYI, Al-qaeda is certainly not an individual, neither is Hezbollah or the Muslim Brotherhood, it's a large and powerful collection of individuals, it's a movement, and idea, an organization, nothing can be further apart from a single deranged individual.

2, Please don't pretend you don't know what I mean. How many members does WBC or AQ have? A tiny fraction of the the general population of Christian and Muslims.
They are both movements within generally innocent groups.

I have contacts at Mass. Gen. They say the reported number of amputees could double given the number of severe lower and upper extremity injuries they have. Many were runners. Another problem is the high post-acute infection rate with these injuries.

One (MIT?) cop dead, suspect(s) took his gun, one bombing suspect dead, one at large.

One suspect led cops on a car chase, tossing explosives as he went. House being looked at. People told by reverse 911 to stay put. Cops warned of using radios near house - fear of setting off R/C bombs. Robots attempting to disarm bombs.

Boston & Watertown cops, SWAT, MA National Guard, State cops, armored tactical vehicles, choppers.

A damned cop-vention. Sheesh....

Transit cop was also shot & is critical, but the osner of the vehicle that was carjacked was turned loose.

hospital holding a presser now re: suspect #1

- showed up with PD @ 1:20 AM
- was in traumatic arrest
- did CPR, etc, etc
- declared dead about 15 mins after arrival (1:35 AM)
- injuries included several gunshots, burns and perhaps blast trauma and shrapnel (Karma's a bitch!)

Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, brothers from Chechnya.

Tamerlan is dead. Was a Golden Glove boxer & Olympic hopeful.

Dzhokhar is still at large. A wrestler.

They've arrested a female, relationship unknown, after a standoff. Taken away by SWAT. More explosives found, including at least one more pressure cooker device.

Last word was that Dzhokhar has an explosive vest and may be wounded - a puddle of blood was found
