  • Coolest desktop...

Ok, so with all this discussion about KDE, Gnome, etc, it makes me wonder...who has the coolest looking interface, and what environment do they run? Post pics!

    Yup, here's my desktop.

    I'm running, eh...KDE.

        GNOME 2.4
Stuff on the right is gDesklets. The floating panel on the center of the screen I usually have hidden and slide it out when needed. The icon panel on the left autohides. I have a autohiding taskbar on the bottom of the screen. Emblems on my windows mounts for no real reason, I guess it's my response to Mac's lables

haha, I love the bomb on the win98 label.

Cool looking desktop though. Although I can't say I'm a fan or the top window toolbar decoration.

Isn't that Gnome you're running? Sure looks like it to me....

Here is mine, I usually have it 3840x1024, so I shrunk the size of the png.

P.S. Oops, forgot to ask, how did you manage the transparent menus?

I have to say that I liked the Amiga Os 1.3 when it came out. I thought that finally someone put together a CLI and GUI that worked well.

It's not his, it's one of Keith Packard's transparency demo shots.

It looks rather sweet! Hopefully it's a lot more stable than any of the WindowFX and WindowBlinds things are for windows. (They have definite stability problems. They work great if you don't leave your computer on all the time, but after awhile, they start to screw up.)
